Ring seal is critical. Fixing that will help a lot, and really must happen before you can do much else.
I ran a 87 Firebird 305 carb motor for a while, and they do work well. That was before roller rockers were legal, and I spent a lot of time checking and replacing rocker arms. The 305 was hard on them. The roller rockers should give you some hp and save you a lot of headaches. Use good pushrods too!
Bullet and Comp both work well with stocker racers, and either should be able to get you a good, up to date, cam. I have used both in the past.
Good luck, and have fun!

May have to wait about 6 weeks? That's what I've been told.

Yes, CP is a good choice.

But if you are not putting them in a properly prepped Bowtie block or a properly prepped/sleeved 350/307 block, you aren't going to find the power you are looking for.

Unless you have a rock solid stable cylinder wall, with the right finish, no piston or ring package will help you.

Also consider calling Total Seal for your ring package. If you are used to buying a $50 ring set, then prepare yourself before you call. Good ring packages can be ten times that amount.

I can tell you what made my mind up. Cp seemed smarter than the other companies. They knew what I was looking for.
