Now all the news from SEMA. New carmaro looks great MPR did a great job like always.

New Stk rule changes on the table for 2012

64 car fields for ss and stk at all nationals but Indy.
For stock only 1980 and newer cars only.

Well, Charlie Bob, has been known to cast out a line, and wait for the bobber to do its thing.....

Especially the last line ! LOL !

NHRA should have never allowed anything other than stock valvesprings, would have kept RPM in check.

peter, look under the hood of a dp or cj. those 331 and 7.0 cj have a pushrod crate motor with aluminum heads and a dominator style throttle body! looks more like a bracket motor than something that belongs in stock. but what do i know?

Angry Re: Roller Rockers in Stock

alan, billy and those few of us who are upset / amazed / pissed at the bastardization of our class... we are too old to keep this up...

the problem is not only NHRA who is comprised of greedy ignorant bastards, it is the plethora of "new generation" racers who dont have a clue about what WALLY had in mind for stock eliminator when he divorced the cheaters into SS and gave us back stock eliminator.

there is a place for all these aftermarket improvements, wally called it super stock.

nhra has whored us out to the manufacturers money, and we have let them ! we still show up
and we take it in the drawers and wallet every time some clown asks them to relax the rules cause he wants to cheat more.. and they think its grand so they can quit paying quality techmen and have some minimum wage moron teching the class cars.

so here is to anyone who thinks this is a good idea... you should have considered the valvetrain YOU CHOSE when you picked your combo dont ask nhra to fix your issues...there WERE rules when you built it, live with it and quit begging NHRA to bastardize MY class cause your stuff breaks.

jack mccarthy

i almost hope charlie bob is right or my car would slow down, because i will quit !
hell since woodro quit, i'll never build another stock eliminator motor.

flame on, i said my piece

Feel better Jack? Ya know, you could move a few words around and add or subtract a few here and there and you've just addressed what's wrong with the world!
Charlie Bob Silverspoon has been right for a lot of years, we're all "entitled" to cheat. The rest of us have just been going about it the wrong way.

Can anyone imagine that letter getting printed in National Dragster today? It's a good thing we have this forum to discuss these issues.

Absolutely. With all the supposed problems with breakage and checking procedures, all they accomplished was to push the problem boundary out to encompass more issues and cost thousands of dollars more.

Anytime somebody argues for such rules changes based on 1) "Everybody is already getting by with it." or 2) "It's too hard to police." or "The Ford guys - Chrysler guys - Chevy guys (take your pick) have an advantage cause they get to do it.", get ready. A new door is about to be opened for 1) 10 new things people will find to get by with, 2) 10 new things will open up that are much harder to police, and 3) 10 new things will develop that will give one of the groups a bigger advantage.

Of course the worst result is that everybody is about to get screwed.

Poster child of stupid rules with devastating results in Stock was the valve spring rule.

Poster child of stupid rules with devastating results in Super Stock was ported heads.
