Great question, I do not know. Maybe someone else has the answer.

I think I saw on Facebook that if you run NHRA you have to use the class and index for the NHRA class. You can’t change your class if you are an NHRA racer.

My take on it was if you claim a NHRA class then you run off of the current NHRA index. If you claim one of the IHRA only classes like one of the SS Production classes you would use the current IHRA index. All regular SS classes would run the NHRA index. I guess we will hear more as the event gets closer.

Simple solution...a car in NHRA SS/JA would not be a heads up run against a car in IHRA SS/JA. Treat them as two different classes with two different indexes. Run them with a handicap start.

That’s not a solution, that’s a Bracket Race

How long are they going to keep letting IHRA cars in? The only cars in IHRA are bracket cars they dropped class racing a few years ago so technically there are no IHRA class cars. To my knowledge non of the IHRA classes get updated for HP hits or any rule changes.
Asking for friend.

Most racers race Stock and Super Stock for the challenge inserted by the rules (which include car, engine, and race conduct...as in indexes and possible heads up runs).

The conduct of the Stock and Super Stock race is becoming more like Comp, where the thought goes into the race prior to and during qualifying.
Good morning.
First off I have no intention of promoting my own race.
Had my fun Promoting Slot Car racing a few years ago. Way easier to deal with.

I may have misunderstood about tear down, from reading all the post. My Bad!

Second, I think this is a GREAT thing that JBD is doing for Stock & Super Stock.
I understand that this is Class Racing, Not a Bracket Race. But it is not a NHRA sanction race either. So rules can and will be made to please the racer and the promotor.
It was just a thought, with this much money on the line.
I really feel that there will be hundreds of race cars there, a lot of D1 guys planning to attend.

Probably the reason for including the few IHRA cars that are still around is the past few years D2 has been running a 1/8th mile national open series and they have been including the now defuncted IHRA classes. Crate motor stock and SS production cars. I doubt there will be many there. I suspect the top player in that class will be Myron Piatek. He is always a tough competitor.
