Mopar carb and manifold for NHRA Stock Eliminator
I'm doing some research for an NHRA stock eliminator package that I just learned about. Guess that I'm surprised that I haven't heard about this before, since I've been racing Mopar's since 1969!
The package I'm researching is a 1964/1965 Dodge/Plymouth 2 door sedan with a single four barrel 426 wedge. I've looked at the classification guide, found out the hp rating on the engine, and what cylinder heads can be used. I need to know what carburetor number and what intake manifold number can be used. Where can I find that information? Anybody out there tried to run this combo, and what's the opinion about it being good/bad for the class it would run in? Thanks, Bob C. |

Re: Mopar carb and manifold for NHRA Stock Eliminator
Carb is rather small (500 something) and manifold looks like a
elephant stepped on it. BUT it has been refactored (lowered) enough that it should be a second under player done decently! John Winslow races one in SS/JA (Raced my son at Winters') and it runs well. The 383 engine has the same Carb and similar manifold and is a Killer in the '64 cars (Also severely refactored). The acceptance of 915 heads make a heck of a improvement since approved some years ago. Hope this help

Re: Mopar carb and manifold for NHRA Stock Eliminator
The correct carb is a Carter #3611s according to the Classification Guide. In reality, as long as it’s the same Carter and measures right, the serial # isn’t all that important. I’ve got a 3611 core if you want one.
Manifolds: 2806178, 2951736, 3512501, 3614014 As far as I know, I’m the only one running that combo right now. Runs all right I guess.

Re: Mopar carb and manifold for NHRA Stock Eliminator
FYI in 1966 my daily driver was a 2 dr Dodge (ex Detective car) that i put a375 HP 426 in and ran B/SA. .60 and headers were the only mods (way before stocker cams, valve springs, etc. With a 4.56 best was 13.5 @ 99 MPH. 383 was as fast at that time. Now my Jeep 6 cyl 250 Cu In runs 12.8 at 101 at the same weight!

Jim Hale I think got the Stage 5 head made legal and then bought them all from Mopar. Might sell a set. He is the man.
