When I was using the Trend lifters in my 327 Chevy, I bought pushrod cups from Trend with .014 holes and it oiled just right. Didn't have restricted pushrods. The last set of Trends I bought were ordered with the .014 holes, but measured .029 and over-oiled the top end. Hope this helps.

My Trends have the .014 oil hole in the cup to restrict the oil flow....works great.

I did have to shim the cup to eliminate all movement. The reduced oil hole diameter allowed too much oil to stay in the lifter, raising the cup and holding the valves open as RPM increased.

This has as more do with the block (raised lifter bores) and lifter clearance (.0015) than the lifters. I know several others that used the .014 cups with no issues in stock blocks and/or those with a bit looser lifter clearance.-Al

For a Pontiac I would just tap the block for lifter bore restrictors. 1/4 20 tap fits in the existing holes that feed the lifters inside the lifter bores. Then use brass set screws and go with a .016 to .018 drill to make the holes. That should slow the oil down
