At my shop I buy the filters and fluid from the Ford dealer. Other makes I will use Napa stuff and have never had a problem. But if I use good name brand fluid instead of the ford stuff sometimes they seem to shift hard under light loads. I figure if I am going there to get the fluid I might as well pick up the filter too. Be prepared Ford is mighty proud of their fluid.

Exclamation Re: 2000 Ford F250 Super Duty 7.3 DIESEL ????

I typically shy away from the dealers usually pompous ***&s and horrific prices when it comes to parts---- some of the OEM stuff you absolutely cannot beat in quality on the open market but other times they are so overpriced it can be humorous ---thanx for the response---Comp

AMSOIL, the only way to go for fluids in my book....for the tow vehicle anyway.

The Ford parts may be pricey, but they look pretty inexpensive compared
to Toyota parts............

And I own a 2004 F350 Super Duty that goes to the dealer for service and
the wife ownes a Toyota that goes to the dealer for her service.

You should change the trans cooler to one from a 6.0 diesel. This will bring heat down quite a bit. And make the fluid and trans live a lot longer
