shock and spring recommendations?
I believe it is time for some new shocks and springs for my 72 nova. I have never put new leaf springs on it and it is tilted to the passenger side in the back. Also, I put new slicks on it thinking it would start sticking again and it still doesn't. Just doesn't yank the front wheels like it used to and my shocks are old too (fronts are 10 year old konis and backs are 8 year old Rancho 5 adjustments).
Should this fix my problem? I have Caltracs w/ a 3100 lb car leaving on a transbrake with a small block...usually 1.45 60 foot times...hoping for front and rear shock recommendations? (I will probably get the caltrac leaf springs) thanks,

Re: shock and spring recommendations?
thanks, that is what I was considering for the front...they seem the same as the konis...but maybe they are better (mine got to be wore out by now anyhow).
How about recommendations for the rear shocks, I thought about going back with some new Ranchos, but I tend to think maybe QA1a or something might be better?

Re: shock and spring recommendations?
I run all of calverts products on my camaro and agree with Ron...it is the way to go...call Alex Denysenko at money maker racing. His ph # is 219-861-1214, he is a stocking dealer for calvert and will help you look at the different parts of the suspension.. Alex is very good at this and will be a great help to you...good luck

Re: shock and spring recommendations?
I run Calvert shocks, front and rear, Cal-Tracs, split monos.Very happy with the way the car works.(69 Camaro 9-inch tire) Plus you get their great tech service! Rear shocks are the 9 ways.

Re: shock and spring recommendations?
I recently did a similar upgrade going to the Caltracs bars and mono-leafs along with their front shocks. In the rear I am running QA1 single adjustable. It took a few times out at the track to get it all dialed in but once you get it there it works very nice.
One thing I learned through all of this is that using the Caltracs components they suggest 1.5"-2" of exposed rod on the rear shock. I was running the shock more in the middle of the travel and was topping it out. But by adding some 2" rod extensions I was able to get the rear shocks positioned correctly. Chad |

Re: shock and spring recommendations?
Dana, You have had John's new front shocks for like 7-8 months. You need me to put them on for you or you just going to keep playing with the old ones? :-)
