Default Ice on manifold

How close to the starting line do you have to remove ice bags? Same line that you can't change your dial?

NHRA rule book says wet towels, rags, ice, etc. must be removed before vehicle leaves staging area. Found it in the General Rule section under fuel/air section 20, page 5.

I get it. Before leaving staging area??? Is staging area before the "pre-stage" light? Obviously that is a smart azz answer. Somewhere one has to remove ice??? Maybe before you are motioned up for burn out??

I don't see chillers in the lanes like I used to. Guys often do that someplace close to the staging lanes. One year at Indy, they parked myself and a friend on the right side of the "road" leading to the lanes, right at the end, a few feet from the end of the lanes. Morning of class we became very popular. Had guys wanting to park with us. That area got crowded, and wet. LOL
