Default SST legal

Hey guys I am thinking of purchasing a tube chassie Mustang II to build/race in sst. Is there any reasons you guys can think of that would make that style car not leagel for the class. (Such as wheel base- the engine was moved to the rear but I think I can move it back) It's an older tube car but will recert to 8.50 with no problem. Any help would be great. Thanks Joe

I would have to add approx 240lbs, is that a lot of weight to add?

In S/ST you're allowed to add up to 500 pounds but there are several legal requirements to be met (NHRA Rulebook General Regs 4.2) so you're going to have questions that downloading a rulebook will help you with. In general you want to add weight fairly close to the centerline of the car (corner weighting to achieve correct balance recommended) and also toward the rear as a traction aid. 10.90 in IHRA only requires 2600 weight min. so might be good place for you to start...

Thanks for the responses I was mostly worried about wheelbase requirments and things like that. will download the rules today. I love the bracket/sst/sg style racing to the grief of my friends. (heads up racers)

LOL.....That made me laugh this morning. Hope you have a good year. Thanks Chip !
P.S. You guys seem to have a lot more fun than those nuts running stock and S/S. I might just end up running with you guys in H/R and some Unleashed 11.0 class stuff as Im still not crazy about throttle stops. Just want to have some fun before its to late. It just makes more sense and not as expensive. Those guys over in class cars would argue over a lug nut.

You know the reason we run throttle stops right? We figure if we slow our cars down, then we will know what it's like to run stock and super stock. lol

Hey X, That's some funny stuff there...But it's true. They argue so much that they make my wife sound competent..I like droppin' in over there every now and then and stirrin' them up. And believe me, it doesn't take much. I don't know how they can stand racing together without a free for all breaking out.
