Re: Race #3 & #4 (now 1/2) @ KDS
Well y'all let's try again for the 2nd attempt in 2023! It's officially race week at KDS Motorsports for what is now race #1 & #2. Weather appears to be getting better so let's not jinx ourselves. 🤞
Gates will open on Saturday, June 3rd at 12 p.m. with time trials starting at 1:30 p.m. Our Saturday title race sponsor is Pope Automotive of Kinston. It is a full-service shop owned & operated by our very own, Mr. Dennis Pope. The associate sponsor is Webb’s Golf Cart Sales LLC. This is also a local business owned by young bracket racer, Jason Craft. Sunday gates open at 12 p.m. & we will be doing our Warren Engines sponsored Dash for Cash & straight into eliminations. Sunday's title sponsor is Truell Grading Company which is a new sponsor for CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association in 2023. This company is owned by Mr. Lee Truell. The associate sponsor for Sunday is Craft Woodwork, Inc. which is owned by another local bracket racer & the father of Saturday's associate sponsor, Mr. Scott Craft. As always, if you are in need of various services, check the CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association sponsors list as we have a broad range of businesses & we should support those that support us!!! Notes for the upcoming weekend: * $200.00 to enter points * $100.00 to enter race * Racers will pay at Tabitha's trailer starting Saturday morning & you will only pay for your crew members at the KDS Motorsports gate * Points is as follows: 10 to enter 5 per round won Counting Best 10 out of 12 races. 10 bonus points for attending ALL 12 races * Seatbelts must be within 2 years (same rule as NHRA) * Helmets must be Snell SA2015 or newer (same rule as NHRA) * Bounty Hunter Award: If previous race winner isn't at next race, award will then go to the Runner-Up from said race, & if Runner-Up also isn't in attendance, then we will go to the Dash for Cash Winner from previous race * Permanent class destination/car #'s on all windows * Blinders ARE allowed * We will have CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association t-shirts, hoodies, & hats for sale starting Saturday morning. * We will continue to do a raffle for $10.00 for each spot to win weekend entry. * You can still sign up for the Remind text messaging program to get all the latest CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association annoucements. https//www.remind.com/join/daa84g6 We look forward to seeing everyone this weekend!!!! |

Re: Race #3 & #4 (now 1/2) @ KDS
KDS Motorsports Race Report & Results:
First off I want to say I'm sorry that I didn't get this posted yesterday like I typically do but I had an eye appointment where they dilated my eyes for potential eye surgery so seeing yesterday wasn't too easy but I'm on the mend today. Let's start out by giving KDS Motorsports owners/employees a special THANK YOU for welcoming us to their facility & giving us 2 great days of racing. There were a few obstacles to overcome but overall the 2 days went pretty smooth. Our CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association racers came with their A1 game on to start out the Warren Engines sponsored Dash for Cash. We had a total of 13 dead on runs with 4 of those runs being dead on with a 0. Keith Alexander came out on top collecting the $100 from Warren Engines for his .001 package. He had a .001 RT & ran 6.570 @ 100.61 mph on his 6.57 dial. By winning the Dash for Cash, he was also eligible for the first round bye run in which he did receive. WE DID IT! We got our 50 entries which was Leigh Anne & Tabitha's goal & it broke the record of 48 cars previously. Although only 49 cars made the 1st round call. One of our sponsors & racers, Doyle Evans had surgery & left it was best not to compete so he took his entry points only. Get well soon Doyle!!! Dennis Pope came out on the losing side of a good run with Steve Foley in Round 1 to earn the Victory Lane Golf Carts 1st Round Best Losing Package. Dennis was dialed a 7.07, had a .036 RT, & ran 7.084 @ 93.54 mph. BTW, Victory Lane Golf Carts suffered a major break-in overnight & has a cash reward for recovering the stolen property so please check out their page & be on the lookout for their stolen goods. The Ford's Fuel and Propane/ Renegade Race Fuels & Lubricants 2nd Round Best Losing Package went to Steve Foley. To make the loss not sting quit as much, he received 5 gallons of PRO 112+ racing fuel & also lost to the eventual race winner. Steve was dialed a 6.14, had a .021 RT, & ran 6.150 @ 93.54 mph. In the Semi-finals, Joseph Strickland lined up against our previous race winner & Bounty Hunter target, Raymond Roland. Raymond lost this run & Joseph would collect the 1st ever Wayside Landscapes & Supply Bounty Hunter Award. Raymond was dialed a 6.66, had a .023 RT, & ran a 6.661 @ 100.12 mph for the loss. Our next pairings would be Jeff Longhany versus Dan Fletcher. Dan had some issues off the starting line resulting in the loss here. He was dialed a 6.07, had a .061 RT, & ran a 14.88 after aborting the run. Joseph Strickland & Jeff Longhany met up in the finals. Joseph had his worst reaction time of the day but still came out with victory as Jeff's car spun off the starting line. Joseph was dialed a 7.42, had a .032 RT, & ran a 7.485 @ 79.72 mph. Jeff had had the advantage off the starting line with his .010 RT, but ran a 7.183 @ 93.00 mph off his 6.20 dial. Joseph collected the biggest CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association payout to date & on top of his race winnings, he also received the Auto Plus Service Center Paul Bunyan "Best Reaction Time" Award for his .003 RT during R2, the above mentioned Wayside Landscapes & Supply Bounty Hunter Award for taking out Raymond Roland in the semis, Zamp Racing Best Winning Package for his R2 win where he was dialed a 7.43, had a .033 RT, & ran a 7.431 @ 87.79 mph, $300 product gift certificate from QA1, & a $100 product gift certificate from ATI Performance Products. Jeff received his race winnings as well as a $100 gift certificate from Altronics Inc, a $50 gift certificate from Meziere Enterprises, & a $50 gift certificate from ATI Performance Products. The McLawhorn Racing "Hard Luck Award" was given to Jim Reynolds for his car troubles during our Warren Engines Dash for Cash in which he missed the run but luckily he did get the car fixed with the help of several fellow racers. Dennis Pope received the Butner Construction "Sportmanship Award" for helping Donald Webb & Mr. Underwood get their "new to them" Stocker fixed to make Saturday's race after having some troubles during testing on Thursday night. Randy Chew received the Gutters by Design "Mind in the Gutter/Worst RT" for his .179 RT during R1 but still came out with the win. The Chew crew got tickled to death at this award so I think it's safe to say that 2023 will be a great year for CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association. The evening was topped off with a surprise retirement party on behalf of his family for Mr. Ed McLawhorn. Everyone got their bellies full of hot dogs, hamburgers, & cake. Mr. Ed stated that he knew something was going on when he saw his sister-in-law showed up at the track. A big compliment to the racers in CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association was several racers made the comment that this was one of the toughest associations to win in so y'all racers keep up the good work & keep doing what you're doing as it doesn't go unnoticed!!! Re: Race #3 & #4 (now 1/2) @ KDS
Sunday's race picked up right where it left off from Saturday. During the Warren Engines sponsored Dash for Cash, we had 6 dead on runs. Phil Hilling picked up the first $100 of the day for winning that. He was dialed a 6.22, ran a 6.223 @ 107.28 mph with a .033 RT. Another new sponsor for 2023 is Half Moon Marketplace & the "Act of Giving Back" award. One tech card from Saturday & Sunday participants was pulled at random from the tower & Jeff Longhany picked up a $35 Visa gift card. Thanks to Mrs. Annell McLawhorn for this award. Next up is 1st round & we had 46 entries with 45 cars making the 1st round call. Kelly Morris, new to the driver's seat this year, collected his 1st winnings as a driver. He received the $50 for the Victory Lane Golf Carts 1st Round Best Losing Package. Kelly was dialed a 8.65, had a .012 RT, & broke out running a 8.637 @ 77.08 mph. Needless to say, Kelly & Mr. Monnie was proud of this moment. Howie Adams, piloting the old Gil Carty Chevy II wagon, received 5 gallons of PRO 112+ racing fuel courtesy of Ford's Fuel and Propane/ Renegade Race Fuels & Lubricants for his 2nd Round Best Losing Package. Howie was dialed a 6.14, had a .034 RT, & ran a 6.130 @ 102.79 mph. The lone semi-finalist was one of the same ones from Saturday & if he had entered the points, would be leading; in a borrowed car was Dan Fletcher. He staged up against Kevin Locklear. Dan lost this round with his .073 RT, running a 6.526 @ 94.62 mph on his 6.51 dial. The final pairing has one that always does well at CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association at KDS Motorsports, Tim Fletcher & Kevin Locklear. Kevin had lots of pressure on him as his son, Dallas Thomas "DT' had already won in the junior dragster class in only his 3rd race in his short career. The red bulb bit Kevin by .001 giving the automatic win to Tim. Tim didn't lay off any as he was .005, & ran a 6.996 @ 93.14 mph on his 7.01 dial. Tim stated that when he left & saw it turned green, he knew it was a good bulb. Kevin ran a 6.623 @ 100.72 mph on his 6.63 dial. DT decided to "share" the Winner's Circle with dad although he was the only one going home with a trophy today. DT did not like the thoughts of a Winner's Circle "victory bath" as Tabitha likes to give all the kids on their first junior dragster win. Tim also received the $100 gift certificate for the Crew Chief Pro Software Best Winning Package of the race, a $300 gift certificate to QA1, & a $100 gift certificate to ATI Performance Products on top of his CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association race winnings. Kevin picked up a $100 gift certificate to Altronics Inc, $50 gift certificate to Meziere Enterprises, $50 gift certificate to ATI Performance Products as well as his race winnings. Billy Ryan was the Auto Plus Service Center Paul Bunyan "Best Reaction Time" winner for his .001 RT during 1st round. He couldn't let Amy have all the glory as she had a .001 RT for the Footbrake division & was sitting on the bye run for R1 of that class. Billy did receive the 1st round bye & had another .001 RT on his bye run. We jokingly picked on him & told him we needed to check his car for a delay box! Ed McLawhorn picked up the Wayside Landscapes & Supply Bounty Hunter award for taking out Jeff Longhany in R1 since Joseph Strickland left after is Saturday night win. Brent Pozzi was given the Butner Construction Sportsmanship Award for allowing another racer, Dan Fletcher, run his extra car in competition on Sunday. Doug Hobgood was the Gutters by Design Mind in the Gutter/Worst RT winner for his .203 RT during R1.
We know this past weekend was brutal with a long, hot day on Saturday & then the major weather change on Sunday but on behalf of CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association, Leigh Anne, & myself Tabitha, we want to THANK EACH & EVERY ONE of you for making this past weekend a huge success!! Let's keep the momentum going & we look forward to seeing everyone as well as some new faces at Coastal Plains Raceway Park Dragway in a few short weeks.
