1971 Chevelle SS454 D/SA
I picked this ratty old basketcase up last fall, and originally planned to make a multi-winter project super stock car from it. Started life as a '70 malibu 307 th350 car, red with a white painted top, Grandma's special! After much deliberation and scoping the project out we decided that it was worth saving as the car actually came from western canada, so the frame was really good, and all the necessary parts of the shell were intact and solid. My dad was wanting to get back into racing, and had a 71 LS5 stock legal engine and trans so we said what the hell, lets do it. December 25, 2015 we rolled it into the shop. As I type this, may 13 2016 the car is in paint booth and we plan to have him on the track in mid june! Enjoy and fire away lol

CC…Looking good. Your eye for potential is the same as we have on the West Coast, anything from that Era is worth saving. Are you painting it too?Any Armstrong influence? MB.

We have a friend painting it, as he's a real painter and we are mechanics and welder a lol. Going Cortez Silver with Black stripes. Little bit of the machine work was done at A&J, but most was done at home and my buddy's shop down the road. With used parts and no funny stuff we were able to make 466hp on the dyno at A&J, with about $4400 tied up in the motor carb to pan.

Dads gettin very excited, as am I. I've race for 15 years, 12 of which we ran the same bracket classes and we have never been down the track side by side, even in a time trial. I'm thinking this will be the year the 67 year old teacher and 29 year old student make a little local history with the Atlantic Canadian Stock/Superstock Association!
