Default AHRA index racing

How does this new AHRA deal work? The flyer says they are running it at the Winternationals. Are they like a circuit that rented some time from NHRA? Sounds really interesting.

The website www.ahraonline contains more info-apparently will award $10000 to SG winner if he or she has no electronics.

If you have an automatic you win 5k, with a manual transmission you win 10K. Check it out

It would be real interesting to see if any cars actually fit into the requirements. Most of not all the cars have stops for the most part, I wonder if some will switch to a plate slide under the carb so they can try to get the cash.

Talking Re: AHRA index racing

I'm surprised NHRA will have the time for another eliminator ? Could it be that they want to see how the fans in the stands will react to the index type of racing without the "START/STOP/START" type that S/C, S/G. and S/ST has turned into with the over sized expensive fast MPH engines being used today ????

NHRA isn't adding any classes, you simply have to become an AHRA member and compete in the heads up classes without benefit of the electronic aides. Somebody with a well sorted car using the slide stops or weights could possibly pull it off and it would be fun to see one do it. Ever since Troy Coughlin started the big MPH trend at Indy many years ago it's been harder and harder for the regular bracket racer to step into the heads up classes at the Divisional and National events.

I did not mean they were adding a class for good. Just an addition at the Winter nationals as an experiment to see fan reaction. Spectators hate the start/stop and start again so called racing.

It's not another eliminator or class or anything like that. They are not affiliated with NHRA. It's like an ordered hit by an assassin or hitman. They have put a bounty on the Super Gas Class at the 2018 Winters. You must be an AHRA member and it costs $50. If you call AHRA office they have the details and can get you set up to collect the bounty. It pays $5K if you win class with an automatic with no throttle control devices (just your foot) or delay box, $10K if you win with a clutch type manual tranny and no electronics or throttle control devices just driver skill. It's that simple. I have already called, it's easy. (615) 580-3137, they are easy to deal with and want to promote Sportsman Super Gas driver skill within the class. They have a 9.90 index class exactly like the bounty and are promoting it.
