Default Bobby Dee Myers 1947-2012

Just found out that our friend Bobby Dee Myers passed away in June.Bobby raced in Stock and Super Stock from the early 70s thru the the 1990s. He had a 57 Chevy ( Illinois Shaker) that he raced in the Jr stocker days, had a series of Super Stock Chevelles in the 70s.His last car was a 71 Buick wagon that he raced in O/SA in the 80s-90s.He was a many time Class winner, and record holder.A fun,and entertaining guy to be around at the track. He later worked as a tech guy for the NMCA,and had worked at Lunati cams after his retirement from racing.RIP Bobby .

I met Bobby Dee in 1985 through Bob Harrison. My son and I went to WWCS race at Indy. I spoke to him a few times over the years.

RIP

Sorry to hear of Bobby's passing. Lyn is correct. He was an entertaining guy to be around. I worked with him in tech at the original NMCA. That was back when the fast streetcar racing movement was in its early days and where the little guy could be competitive. Bobby tried to keep the rules tight and the racing affordable. But we all know how that wound up. As is always the case, heads up racing soon became dominated by deep pockets.

Rest in peace Bobby.

Sorry to hear about Bobby's passing. I haven't seen him in a lot of years, but I remember him as quite a character.

Sad day. When I first started racing Div. 3 events in the early '90's I recall Bobby putting me on the trailer a time or two with his Buick wagon. Great guy to race with.

Sad news...... There was never a "dull moment" when Bobby D was around......
I am sure he won't be the ONLY angel wearing bib overalls........

RIP Bobby Dee

Bobby dee always park on the corner off the return road at Indy ( those that knew him know where I am talking about) and every year there was a Buick 350 hanging on a engine hoist after first day of qualifying. The other motor was always going to be faster.
Bobby D was quite the character as described above. I remember when Dunlap set up a stock super stock race at Terre haute, I got there early and bobby d was the only stocker in line , I walked up to his trailer and he told me to set down. He said son these stocker boys won't tell you ****, bit let me give you some speed secrets, I wasn't dumb enough to try them cause I figured out he was trying to use me as a test dummy. Wish there were more characters like him still racing, made it real interesting going to the track.

P.S. He made Freddy, Buddy, Kenny and Bobby look like preachers.

Rip Bobby D, you were one of the greats.

Bobby always came up with the "trick of the week" that for sure was going to make you go faster. He called me in the dead of the winter one time and told me i had to go out and order some d569 something rotor caps because he knew they are going to be worth a few hundreths!!! After a hard day at the track he would get out a big bottle of what he called" loud mouth"!!!
