Default Engine Shut Down

What is the advantages and/or disadvantages of shutting your engine down after you go through the lights on the high end? I know for a plug check is one but is there any other reason beyond that?

One advantage (depending on your oiling system) is not uncovering and loosing oil pressure during deceleration.

Thumbs up Re: Engine Shut Down

One thing to remember is when the engine is shut off after you clear the lights, your not supplying an fluid to the trans, at 130mph or more, that could be disaster, unless you leave the motor idle with the trans in neutral, if you have a trans and shifter with a clean neutral ! Much safer !.........John
