Default Gene Emes

I just received news from the Smith's

The most tragic news, Gene's sudden passing last evening.

He was a true friend to all of us, specifically the Can Am bunch. He always had good words for every competitior, offering encouragement, dropping by for a visit with each and every one of us. The work he has done behind the scenes with the series can not even be described in the few short lines here. I am beside myself as I write.

To the Emes family Beth, Steven, Ken et al on behalf of Lorraine and myself I offer our deepest heartfelt condolences.

Lorraine & Venice Perno

Gene, in this incredibly inadequate space, we say, farewell and Godspeed.

We want to wish you "good luck" once more, as we prepare to meet in competition.
We want to say "thank-you" for welcoming each and every racer into the "family"
We want to invite you to our home to repay even a small part of your kindness.
We want to thank-you for reminding everyone that having FUN was the real reason we suffered through those rainy weekends.

We wish we had shared all these things with you Mr. Emes.

We will miss your upbeat, sunny attitude towards every day at the track, your humble, yet assured greeting for an opponent in victory or defeat; for being a generous and caring man in every way.

We WILL tell you, when next we meet, how much we missed the time we were apart.

What a tremendous loss for all who knew Gene. "our friend". We are sure glad that we were blessed to have known such a great friend, Mike and I have so many great memories that we will cherish forever. Our deepest sympathy to Beth, Steven, Ken and their families. Words can not describe how much he meant to us in our racing community, the posts before us describe Gene well. He will be missed in our sport. He was the sportsman in "sportsman racing"
