SSSSA Basic Rules
The Southern Stock / Super Stock Association (SSSSA) adheres to both NHRA and IHRA general and safety rules. If you can pass a Stock or Super Stock technical inspection for either NHRA or IHRA you are welcome to race with us at the SSSSA. Legal NMCA NMC and NSS Nostalgia cars are welcome also. You must pass a technical and safety inspection before racing with us ANY RACE CAR THAT IS NOT LEGAL FOR THE CLASS CLAIMED WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO RACE. This is at the discretion of SSSSA officials. In order to race with us you must join and be a member in good standing of the SSSSA. If you are able to classify in an IHRA Stock or Super Stock class you must run that class and use the IHRA index and be legal according to IHRA rules. The same applies to NHRA - only classes. (classes only in the NHRA guide book) No crossing over (i.e. Fuel Injection/ Carb classes) is allowed. We primarily use IHRA indexes, specs, H.P. ratings and will tech your car from the IHRA class guide. If your combo is not in the IHRA guide book but is in the NHRA book, we will use the NHRA specs, class, index and H.P. rating. This is done primarily because IHRA has more available classes, also IHRA H.P. ratings and indexes are more favorable to all racers. NMCA NMC and NSS class cars will follow all NMCA rules and will be incorporated into the ladder using our qualifying formula. SSSSA qualifying is per the major associations standard. Eliminations are run off of a ladder style system usually beginning second round. First round normally is all run by random pairing. If there are technical difficulties that make a ladder not possible, alternate means shall be used. There are no heads up runs for NHRA and IHRA cars in eliminations. All cars are handicapped using dial ins. You must dial your index or under in eliminations. Exceptions being the NMCA cars must use their class index as per NMCA rules. First or worst rule and the double breakout rule enforced. In the event of a first round bye run the numbered card / random draw method will be used. Unless specifically stated, eliminations will be an all run combo style. Decisions made by the Tech / Board Officers are final.
The Fees: Annual membership is $20 per year. All memberships come due every January first. You must be a member to race with us. SSSSA charges $75 per race. Payback is dependent on number of cars competing. We will try to pay 8 places. Exception will be at special high dollar races. There will be a gate charge per head at each track we use. Gate charges vary at different tracks. The normal charge has been around $15. Once again the special races are the exception. The Board Officers: Elected board officers are also race officials at all races. Any disagreement or complaint should be brought to the attention of a board officer as soon as possible. The board member shall do everything possible to satisfy the problem immediately. The boards decision is final at the race. The decision can be challenged in writing or verbally to the entire board at a later date. The Board reserves the privilege of changing rules as needed for the good of the membership in general. Board officers serve at their own expense and receive no monetary compensation. Special reimbursement may be necessary for personal monetary output and will be done with board approval. The Members: Remember, the Southern Stock / Super Stock Association was brought about to provide a fun and safe family friendly alternative to the major associations we all race with. Please treat all members, board officers, officials and track personnel with due respect. This is YOUR association. It will be only as good as YOU make it. The respect you get is equal to the respect you give! Jim Wahl, President SSSSA
