Joe Ralph Thompson was the original owner of the Dodge Dart. It was picked up at the Factory in Detroit. When it came off the assembly line, my father had it taken to the "dipping vat" which was an acid dip to remove some of the metal and WEIGHT. In that day and time weight was an issue. For those who want to know, Joe Ralph Thompson was the original owner of the Dodge Demon as well, it was taken to a guy in the Chicago area that was a "hippey in that day an age as he wore a goatee and he painted his face on the truck of the car, sorta his signature. Of course if any of you out there knew may father and mother you know it didn't last long on the car, he removed it. Great a paint job. The reason for the special paint was it was lighter by about 100 or so pounds.

A couple of pictures of the Demon she is referring to:

Although Albert's name is on the door I believe that's Dick Panter driving that race...sadly Dick passed away earlier this year. For those who are interested in seeing some of the Old Trappers at least two are confirmed to appear at the Edmonton Mopar show happening July 28 at the dragstrip. Who knows maybe all four may be there. The 67 GTX and one of the 70 Hemi Cudas are coming for sure.

Well I got to meet and chat with Albert Branham , one of the 2 pilots, for the Old Trappers. Great fellow and I'm sure he was thrilled to see 3 of his former rides all together. When asked which one of the four hemi cars was his favorite to race he indicated the 68 (dart).

Albert signed it right by Panter's. Also Wolesenka. Tuff Enuff was the first Hemi racecar I recall seeing as a kid at SIR.
