Default 2014 Jeep "Christmas tree." button

Now that'different

"Jeep's launch control is standard on SRT8s for consistent, enhanced fast starts of the high-performance SUV. Launch Mode brings the engine, suspension, transmission and driveline together for fast launches from a standstill by revving the engine at a standstill and launching the 5,000-pound SUV like a rocket."

Talking Re: 2014 Jeep "Christmas tree." button

The transmission instructor at the Chrysler training center told us about this being played with by the engineers about 5 years ago.
Probably took that long to clear legal !
Electronically controled trans would be simple to program a transbrake feature into ,along with a rev limiter/ traction control with the drive by wire system .
SRT Jeeps were my favorite road test !

The button not shown opposite of that one has a picture of a tow truck on it.

I am driving a loaner BMW that has some type of Eco mode when you stop at a light. The engine flat shuts off when you have your foot on the brake and sit there for a couple of seconds.

So....I am thinking "Cool! This must be a German 2-step." I was about to swap feet on the brake and mat the gas pedel when a odd moment of common sense overcame me.

I swapped feet and EASED onto the gas pedel. The engine immediately fired back up and lurched a little. Just my luck would have had me squarely in the middle of the intersection spinning from multiple impacts.

it's a nifty little feature. 20 years in the dealership affords me the chance to get to drive anything on the lot so when the SRT's come in I always like to take and "extended lunch test drive".
