2005 6.0 CC Dually best truck I ever owned
Bought this truck new, never had a chip or programmer installed, I tend to over service and replace stuff, but since I use it for pulling my trailer all over the US I wanted to "Feel Good" about it.
I did the EGR water by pass, replaced the turbo with a New Ford "Coated" impeller unit, replaced all belts and hoses several times, flush coolant system every 2 years and refill with correct coolant, change oil filter every 3000 miles, replace all fuel filters on schedule, service auto trans and rear end fluid every 2 years etc., etc. I had a weak injector which was replaced, IDM was replaced etc. Best truck I have ever owned and I've had a couple in my 71 years. If you take care of your 6.0 truck it will take care of you, if you don't it will bite you in the butt. RJ Sledge |

Re: 2005 6.0 CC Dually best truck I ever owned
I agree. My 2006 crew cab dually is a great truck.
I did the coolant bypass, the EGR bypass, Edge gauges, blue fuel pump spring and straight pipe. Short money for the extras and runs like a champ. I would like to do studs and o-ring the heads so I can pump more boost through it, but it has plenty of power stock and the transmission is incredible, especially for towing. By the way, I strongly recommend adding Archoil when changing the oil. The stuff really works. The engine runs smoother and the injectors are much happier. Also, I rebuild the turbo every 30K-50K and use the full-round brass thrust washer. Just good maintenance in my opinion. I'm probably going to add a Wicked Wheel this summer so the turbo will spool up quicker, but that's certainly not a must have. Extremely happy with my truck. |
