Posi or spool
For a low class stocker, T/U, is a post unit more efficient to use, less reciprocating weight? Any other advantages?

Spool is lighter,if you pay attention to the circumstances of the tires a posi doesn't help.

Weight is always important, especially when you don't have much HP to get it moving. Plus there are no moving parts to break or wear out with a spool. Cheaper too!

Spool. In addition to lighter, stronger, and cheaper, zero chance of the clutches in a limited slip unit slipping.

I've tried both, never really noticed any difference. I currently run a spool in the original 6 cylinder rear end (Dana 35), it is a little quicker than the big V8 rear end I ran originally.

How do the aluminum spools hold up with a low HP engine? I'm thinking of using one with a 273 2bbl engine in a Dart. I'm estimating I need 225 HP to run the index.

We ran a MW aluminum spool in a 1200 HP 2000 lb 5speed B/D for several years and never broke one - I feel they will work with lower HP car on 9" tires

I've always used posis in my stuff. They have to be more forgiving of any down-track movements.
