A DRO staffer in San Diego reports that former drag boat racer Greg Gilday, who was seriously injured in a crash during the final round of Top Alcohol Hydro at an IHBA race on Mission Bay in San Diego in October 2003 had filed a lawsuit against the promoter THUNDERBOATS UNLIMITED OF SAN DIEGO INC the associations AMERICAN POWER BOAT ASSOCIATION & AQUA SPEED INC dba IHBA, CHARLIE FEGAN and the sponsor

of the venue WASHINGTON MUTUAL BANK. He reportedly accused the promoters of sending him out to race on an unsafe water surface. Today Gilday was awarded $1.9 million by a San Diego court.
