72 Comet GT
Any opinons on a 72 Comet GT, 302 auto (2 bbl) for stock? The guide shows 143 hp, 17.69 lbs. Q/SA would be the natural class I assume. Has anyone run this lately or does it have to be a Maverick since Mercury is not listed in the guide?
Thanks, Dennis Breeden |

Re: 72 Comet GT
Stock factor is 162. It is a Q car that can make P and R. Good dime rocket but it's no killer by any means.

Re: 72 Comet GT
it's listed in the guide, you just have to scroll down under the ford stuff. i would like to build my 71 into a stocker but the 2 barrel would make it tough i think. there is a guy up in division 6 that runs one.

Re: 72 Comet GT
I questioned the 2 bbl also. I'm more of a Mopar guy, just have a really nice low mileage Comet GT. Thought about letting my wife race the car. Will this combo run under the index without dumping a lot of money into it? Thanks for the replies!

Re: 72 Comet GT
Theres 2 or 3 Maverick/Comets running in P&Q/SA up here in Div. 6. None are really fast, but neither are they high dollar or trick, but they do run under the index a bit.

Re: 72 Comet GT
Merry Christmas, Dave! I was going to mention the six but didn't want to muddy the waters. It's a better deal than the 302 against the index.
