Sorry to say that sending back to MSD is still probably you're best choice.
There's a guy named Tech West that repairs these things but unfortunately is not reliable. I had stuff done by him in the distant past and is still in my car, but I wouldn't go that route today.

P.S. - MSD repaired my MSD 8A and that is working correctly ever since.
