Byron the house of power! Well it was "hot as hell " as one of the track workers put it " you M/F's are hardcore to put on those fire suits and helmets and try to race in this sh-t"

After the dust from qualifying was over it was Larry Wasielewski Who qualified #1 with a 5.70 but with only 10 cars their was no first round bye for Larry as he faced the previous day's #1 qualifier Richard Kwasiborski but Larry prevailed 5.76 to Kwas' 5.77. Ben Baer advanced over a red lighting Jim Gerakaris -.004/5.70 to Mr. Baer's .021/5.72. Jim Glossen won the math quiz over Gary Jenkins 5.65 to a 5.64. Lacy Rosenberry likewise won a double breakout over Christine Malek 5.68 vs 5.67 And in a rematch of the previous day's final Greg Gerakaris' 5.69 nudged out a quicker leaving but naughtier Jeff Torbeck who posted a 5.67. In the second round Lacy opened up a "can of whoop ***" on Ben with a .005 initiated 5.70! Jim Glossen advanced over a inexplicable late leaving young Mr. Gerakaris and Larry Waz had the bye. Round three saw Larry posting another 5.70 to force Jim to run under at 5.689 Miss Rosenberry had the bye. The final saw the irrepressible Mr. Wasielewski use an excellent .005 light and a 5.722 to hold off Lacey's .024 initiated 5.712 by .009 seconds.
