MPR 4th Gen Firebird
I acquired this Super Stock car in 2008 which was built in 2004 for Joe Garbarine who raced in GT/AA and GT/HA. It has been a bracket car ever since, running a best of 8.72 @ 154 with a 1.17 60 foot along with numerous 5.50s before I turned the reigns over to my son back in 2019 who has put it in the winner's circle of several big $ bracket races as well has also competed in S/ST finishing #2 in 2022 with a 1000+HP BBC under the hood, topped with a 4150 carb, backed by a powerglide, 4.86 gear and rolling on Hoosier #18235, 31.5/12.5W slicks.
Back in 2019, the car was prepared for Top Bulb bracket racing, installing electronic dial in boards and a delay box in addition to items that make racing a little easier like an onboard air compressor along with a Interior Battery Master Disconnect Lever. At that time Weld Alpha 1 wheels were installed too. Last winter after 14 years of win lights, deadly consistency and flawless execution going from A to B, I decided it was time to rebuild, update and freshen this car from front to rear and top to bottom. The front and rear suspensions along with the MW brakes and 3rd member were rebuilt with all new parts including the rack & pinion and all components were powered coated, wheelie skis were added, new line lock, added an adjustable proportioning valve and LED bulbs for brake, parking and driving lights. The driver's compartment too was updated with a Racepack IQ3 dash along with powder coating the Jaz seats. :Last, all body panels were realigned and fresh white paint was sprayed followed by new OEM decals along with sponsor and contingency wraps. Re: MPR 4th Gen Firebird
Over the next 3 months, further updates and freshening plans include the interior...carpet, upholstery and new shifter, along with adding LED lighting, Modern Racing's Monocord Pro and installing Brown & Miller hoses/fittings throughout. An MSD Grid was just installed last month, replacing the MSD 7AL3. Last edited by 1320racer; 12-26-2023 at 07:56 PM. |
