Anybody still run em and how did they run? What about durability?

Not to steal a thread, but I posted several month ago without a response. How do them 289's run like they do with heads that (in my opinion) look like a mosquito would have a hard time getting out of the exhaust ports? Are the heads better than they appear, or do the small inch fords need small exhaust to scavenge the cylinders? Sure as hell not a Ford basher. Just courious???? Don Jackson
