For years after C&D's test of this car, it remained at the top of their list for quickest 0-60 time, even faster than an LS6 Chevelle and a Hemi Barracuda. I'm not claiming anything revolutionary, because I am well aware of all the factors involved in magazine testing, but it is a testimony to this being a significant "Q-ship". |

Re: Q Ships
I agree with all the previous examples but I'll throw in one from far out in left field.
In 1970 only, the Eldorado was powered by a 500 cubic inch, 400 horsepower engine. Of course it was a turtle off the line but I embarrassed a bunch of performance cars when they couldn't catch (or shake) me from a 20 mph punch. It was an absolute barrel of monkeys on the interstate. |

Re: Q Ships
I think (as much as my fuzzy memory allows) that the 57 Adventurer
had a 341 Hemi with two fours although the 57 300 had 392 with two fours. I think the 64 300 had inline fours and the last year of long ram or mid ram was 62. My kid ran a 78 aspen 360 wagon in K/SA and L/SA until it was factored up to 289 while the sedans were 270 making it impossible to compete with sedans! It ran in Mid 11's back then about five years ago and won class even when it was 245 Lbs. than a Sedan occasionally. |
