I usually run the entire season on mine.
Last year it looked great after over 170 passes.
I have a few bracket customers that regularly go well over 200 runs with no issues.
Quality parts ,more direct clutches, are making transmissions live longer than they used to.
Heat is the biggest enemy now . ….Keep the temps down and change the fluid a couple times a season.

I've never pulled a trans only for maintenance. If the motor comes out, I bring the trans in for service while it is out. Same if I have a converter issue.

I have a buddy that has had glide issues, but Ive got about 4 seasons on my glide/ATI converter and do not have any issues. When it was last freshened, it probably had 600 runs on it...maybe more.
I probably make about 200 runs per season. Repeated 330' to the thousandths Saturday in r2, r3 and r4 in a 2900lb S10 now. It was in my 68 Camaro for the previous runs at 3320lbs.

I had some problems with some older redline typef fluid gelling and clogging the filter that has since been fixed but i agree that a properly built and maintained trans should last for years and probably a waste of time and money tearing down every year on most applications

Pull the pan. If there is no friction material in the pan it's still on the clutches

To check the band, count the turns in, to 72 inch pounds. Should be 3.5 turns. If all that checks out, you're as good as gold.
