I’ve always said everyone should experience Indy at least once. In I think 2014
decided to go to Indy. Like everyone hoping just qualify. Lucky enough to qualify but lost in the first round of class. When at the scales was told I was invited to a party. I said I lost and was told it didn’t matter. Tear downs are random. So not happy to have to tear down after losing class went back to our pit only to be greeted by the “you’ve been selected for a random drug test” lady. Passed both without an issue and then it’s first round. Was lucky enough to make it to the semis. Did I ever regret going to Indy? He’ll no. A memory to last for ever.

First time I saw Indy was 1981 as a spectator. It was incredible! The first time a raced there was 1986. Drove a SSAS 81 Camaro. I remember in class getting a significant holeshot and got stomped anyway LOL. Was lucky enough to win in 2000 stock eliminator in Bob Gipson’s N Stick Chevelle. Have raced there many times and each one is unique. I have been DNQ and near the top of qualifying. Have been to the late rounds and out first round. Been through tear down there multiple times in several different cars.

Indy is Indy. It is a sprint and a marathon all rolled into one. I agree. If you love Drag Racing and you haven’t tried it, you need to go.

I have made the trek to Indy on two different occasions. Indy is like any other national event just on Steroids. If you don't have a car that is capable of running .90 under in the heat then it may be an event that you might want to skip until you can be competitive there. Both times that I went I could not qualify. I did have a good time but not being able to actually race was a bummer. In my case the car and combo that I run is factored pretty heavy and I don't think there is a car in the country right now with the combo that I have that can qualify at Indy.

Unless they put some hp on the fi cars it won't be long and you won't see one carbed car make the show.

At Indy the stock eliminator qualifying field is 128 out of 180 seems reasonable.

NHRA SHOULD go back to Class Winners automatically being in the field!

I can't see them (NHRA) having any interest having *odd ball combos* making the field over the first and last gen Camaros
(and second gen Nova's)

I have to agree with you on that. It just goes to show you that there are no "Car Guys" up in the Ivory Tower anymore.

Have spectated there since 1967 and hopefully the new car will sort out and qualify next year. It’s been on my bucket list longer than I can remember. Thursday and Friday are by far the best racing you’ll find anywhere.

That place chews me up and spits me out almost every year as a driver. Last year I was able to make it to the winner circle as a crew guy. I keep going and hopefully one year I can have a good weekend there as a driver. I love the amount of cars, running class, and qualifying. It’s a must go for a class racing enthusiast.
