As I recall, the switch to LED bulbs began in '08.

The switch to LEDs occurred with the 2003 season for Nationals. Almost immediately, the Pro Stock (cars and bikes) complained about red lights. The compensation factor was quickly programmed and introduced a few events into (don't recall exactly which one) the 2003 season.

Most member tracks in this area adopted the LEDs for the 2004 season, after watching the outcomes for a year, and some incorporated the compensation into programming for the Lucas Oil classes. For example, Gainesville ran the LEDs for the 2003 Gatornationals but not for their local events until 2004. Bradenton, Montgomery, and Commerce among others adopted them in 2004.

I have no reliable information on which tracks adopted the compensation, for which classes, and when - again it's a software issue and there is no way to tell on the racetrack, you have to ask the event director. The only clue you get is your reaction times on your timeslips.

The first year they ran them at the Winternationals I kept adding time. First round I had .08 in the box and was .00 something, forget what.
By Phoenix there was a big difference.
