Default How often do you re-silicon your trailer roof?

Is it a common preventative maintenance for trailer roofs to have to be re-siliconed every few years?

thanks

Ian

Do you guys out there recommend a specific brand of silicon material? If so what is the cost and how do you prep and apply the stuff. Our 35' goose neck is going to be due for a re-seal.

I'm not sure if it was right or not but I bought some clear silicone down at the hardware store,, Ruffed up the old stuff with a wire brush and layed down a new bead. The trailer come out of L.A so the old stuff was really dried up.

I have had to reseal different trailers of mine. I used some kind of RV roof sealer but it didn't seem to hold up very well. It would get hard and crack.

Since then I found something better. Its called BondaFlex Sil 199 PG. You can use a regular caulking gun to apply it then spread it out with a putty knife. To prep the surface I used denatured alcohol on a rag. So far I am happy with the results.

I got some directly from the Vintage parts department. Search the Internet. I'll bet you can find a place to buy it or just call Vintage.
