Default Lightening crank?

On a motor I bought ( in pieces never been started). I have a crank that has most of the counter weights cut off. The crank is 8 pounds lighter than a stock crank 32 lbs to 40 lbs. It seems to be balanced has balance holes drilled. This is a four cylinder. Racing in stock for a lot of years I have never had any thing like this done. Now I'm in a class with a modified motor. So it's legal.
Is this common practise on a modified motor?

Default Re: Lightening crank?

I would contact your favorite crank shop, somebody that builds billet racing cranks. I'd ask them what they think about the situation. Ideally you may find more reduction will be even better. Look at everything you can including severely undercut rod and main journals using (legal) spacers.
