Mark, don't underestimate the Dexron. I always used it in my bracket car (67 Camaro mid 10s @ 3400 lbs.) and it was always in Himes' Grand Prix (400 Pont. @4300 lbs.) and never had any problems. I might think twice about using it in a stick application though. Heck, Chrysler used it in all but it's highest performance applications from the factory for years.

Please excuse an ignorant old man for asking this, but do you mean ATF in the rear end? I'm probably the only person on the planet that never heard of this.

ATF is considered a high pressure lubricant. Many cars, especially high end cars, run ATF in the stick shift transmissions and differentials. I have seen too many cars that have been serviced at "Quick Lube" type shops were the applicable ATF has been replaced with GL type lubricants and components have failed.

I know MOPAR used to use it in manual transmissions, didn't know about it being used in rear ends too.
