We still run SST some. We run more IHRA stuff lately...more bang for your buck with double event or even triple event weekends...and they cater to the sportsman racers better. My brother has been running the vette and I just starting running my nova in Hot Rod this year with some success. The question on the wheels is really for a stocker nova I am building...not too worried about weight on my 10.90 car.

I have a set of convo pro's front runners in the garage, if I remember correctly, they are 15 X 3.5 or 4 and weigh around 10 pounds. If I get a chance this weekend, I will weigh them, along with the convo pro rears that have new hoosier light weights and the weld racing super 2's with standard radials.

The tire weights are just as critical. I have moroso front runners on the dakota, nice light tire.

Are these for sale ?? How much did you pay for them. I'm looking for a pair of fronts 15 x 4 with 2 & 1/2 back space. 4 & 3/4 bolt space.

Thanks

Ron

Cool Re: Lightweight wheels

68coupe I can't answer that...i do so much "stuff" to slow this car down that I really don't know if it helped or not E.T. wise.

Post Re: Lightweight wheels

FYI - I was just told that the new one piece forged wheels are coming in at a little over 7 lbs and are 15x3.5. - $405.65 racer net

Their 3 piece wheels w/billet centers come in at a little over 8 lbs and are 15x4. - $299.25 racer net

Weights will vary a little based on design. You would have to call for more detailed info.

Must these Holeshot wheels be purchased direct, because they are custom made ? Do they have any distributors who sell to Canadians ?? I have submitted their online form asking these questions.
Are there many other wheel mfrs that can supply a 15 x 14 w/ 8 1/2 or 8 7/8 " backspace ?

Larry Hodge has the new MT wheels. He weighed one and it was 7.1 lbs! and SFI. I had a set of Monocoques and they cracked. I think the new MT's are worth a look.

Just curious. On a Stock or Super Stock type car,has anyone noticed much of a difference in ET by putting on a lighter wheel? You put on a lighter wheel, you have to compensate for the weight elsewhere, unless you are having a problem making the minimum. On my V6 stockers,I`ve never noticed a difference between a light weight aluminum wheel and a steel wheel after compensating the weight difference.
