Creating a class race

I'm getting a little jealous watching the class racer races back east. Hard to believe something out west can't happen. What does it take to get one going? I look at a track like Bakersfield, California would have possibilities. Do you basically rent the track? Obviously sponsors go a long ways. I'm sure it doesn't happen over night. Is there any interest out west here? Seems location helps. Maybe there aren't any cars left out west to fill up a race.
Just wanted to start a conversation on the subject with smarter racers than myself. There are a bunch of racers here in Las Vegas area that would enjoy a race!
