Re: baytown mud fest
I agree with Austin and Larry. Everyone was looking at the radar on their phones and wondered how wet we were going to get before R4 of Sc was finished. It's very easy to decide what should've been done. The spectators were already leaving because of the impending weather. No it did not rain until after midnight but at 8:30 on Sunday morning, it was raining and very wet, and cold, with not much sun in sight.
I think the decision was correct at the time, and the decision to find out how the racers wanted to complete the event the BEST way to handle a difficult situation. Good Job D4. Dan Foley SC4698 |

Re: baytown mud fest
I think the best decision was made to reschedule based on the forecast. I don't think anyone would have thought it would have quit raining after they sent us back to the pits. However, as late as it was it would have become a problem for throttle stop and faster cars to get down the track. So, realistically, you probably could have only completed half of the classes that were left. We saw rain without anything on the radar, and we saw no rain with rain all over the radar. It just goes to show you how unpredictable mother nature is. Even meteorologists with years of experience, cannot accurately predict what the weather is going to do much of the time. Hats off to division director Trey Capps for working with everyone to reschedule. I wouldn't want to call any division other than D4 my home.

Re: baytown mud fest
I agree. Friends there thought it was going to rain more, and he was allowing people to load up before it got bad.
I agree about Div 4, some of the best officials, best starting line crew, best track prep, I have never raced anywhere better. I didn't know I needed big tires until I started traveling to other divisions. Trey seems like a really good guy that cares.
