Hey here's my take, like or not everyone's got an opinion so I will share mine. As said before the current system is not perfect, but this is a free country and every one of us has the opportunity to take off in 2014 and chafe the points coast to coast. Ok I hear some grumbling coming but its true, there is nothing stopping anyone from being the next Fletcher except fear. We all have the same opportunity to do what these guys have done, Fletcher, Rampy, Bertozzi..... So go ahead, there's nothing stopping you, no law says you can't quit your job and hit the road. What really seperates Fletcher from us is that he done it, he took the plunge, he had the balls and talent to do it. You all have the same chance at any given moment but lets face it we're secure at what we have now and won't take the risk. Lets not try to change the rules to accommodate the ones that wouldn't take the risk, sounds kinda like welfare to me. Oh blasta way.

The author say the pro sportsman is doing nothing wrong.

He is 100% correct.

He also says the average racer will never be as good as the pro sportsman.

He is correct again. That why those racers don't deserve to be called a NATIONAL CHAMPION!!! But they can still try if they so wish, no one is stopping them.

Someone commented about having playoff type excitement.
If you want that you can watch or participate in a stick and ball sport.
If the sportsman classes had the same crap as the NHRA pros or NASCAR that would be an absolute joke.

I think this was mentioned before but I will say it anyway. If you cant travel 20 weeks a year race divisionals and win that championship, that should be something to be proud of if it isn't I don't know what to tell you.
If you can travel a lot and run nationals do it. If you don't win a champion its not the end of the world at least you can say you tried. Its not like NHRA sportsman racing is like the 1st grade spelling bee and everyone get a pretty ribbon for gods sake.

The whole point to a National Champion is to see who is the ABSOLUTE BEST that year.
If you are good enough to win a national event you can say you were the best racer that weekend, if that's not good enough you have some personal issues you need to deal with, and I suggest getting some help for that.

I'll stop for now I have to go make some popcorn.

If I was rich, I'd travel and race everywhere. I ain't...so I can't.
I have two options,
1) run the local track
2) run the series that involves the four closest tracks

With (1) I could potentially be a track champ. (and have a lot of experience at that track)
With (2) I could potentially be a series champ and travel to 4 tracks with the others in the series. (but with limited experience at each individual track)

Would I worry about the guy that comes to "my" track twice in the series? Heck no, I've got more local experience!

Would I worry about a local guy if I was travelling? Heck no, I'm getting experience everywhere!

It's all your own mindset. Enjoy racing, period. If it's local, your a local hero. If it's travelling, then your a national hero.

What the heck is the argument about again? LOL!
