Butch's 'Vette is, I believe, Kenny Schindler's now. Still painted like Butch's too, last time I saw it.

Lynn, try using the number of the post. Page settings are not the same, for example this thread is only two pages for me.

Back in the day I raced with Jimmy Lovallo and he was a pioneer of the beefed up IRS and eventually the straight rear, but it had to retain the transverse leaf spring as per the new rules. I think Larry Jewel was also one of the first cars with a straight rear.
We where at Maple Grove when Muni Haddad broke a half shaft at mid-track and went for a very ugly ride into the guardrail and we ran to his car as it was on the roof and pulled him out. It was a miracle he was okay but I don't remember if he ever raced again. Last edited by Frank Castros; 08-06-2011 at 06:58 AM. Reason: spelling |

Back in the 80's IHRA was thick with corvettes. The (wish it was back) modified production class had its share of 11,000 rpm, heavy flywheeled screamers. I always figured if the fuel pump quit on the launch the stored inertia of them boat anchor flywheels would at least push the car past the 60 foot mark lol. There were several in super stock both production (ihra) style and formula 4 (nhra) style engines. Butch Williams SS/CA, Johnny Mcguirt SS/FA, Ham Smith ?SS/CA were all big blocks from Heintz racing. Another impressive big block vette was a production engine (I think) 454 that belonged to Wayne Dollyhigh. Wayne had a prosthetic leg and maybe by necessity or not would stage and leave off idle. That car was a front end toting monster that would have to have been one fun ride! Steve McCreary also has a unique early 60's small block. They were several more but due to senility and the coffee has not fully kicked in I can't recall their names at this time. Don Jackson

Back in the early 70's the was a corvette named "Blue Illusion" ran by a Tony Nicolai at Amber Green in Eau Claire, WI. I have always been looking for a photo of it. High reving 327 and a wheels up launch.
