Daryl,
Interesting history.
Wonder how much time was on his hands.
Winning Modified Eliminator at the 70' Winternationals with the
A/MP Hemi Dart.
Putting together a Pro/Stock car, running his shop, Match Race events and car clinics.
Also, won SS/E (8.00-8.49 wt/hp) at the 70' Winternationals with his
69' Charger R/T Hemi, 11.15 @ 120.00.
Then ran it in B/MP (NHRA) and S/S in (AHRA)
And in March 70, got a new 70' Charger R/T Hemi (automatic) for SS/EA.

Paul,

This is just a guess but the wood grain wheels were very thin, maybe he wrapped it to make it thicker and easier to hold.

Dick liked a little extra glitter on his race cars, so he even installed the full sized trunk filler plate, put wheel well trim on it, Hemi emblems from a Charger on the doors, & the famous spinners on the Cragars. He even installed a woodgrain steering in it. When I sold this car, I needed to have a keepsake from it, so I kept the steering wheel. It's now installed in the Hemi Dart I own now. I even put spinners on the Cragars on this car, because they looked soooo good on the Landy car.

We drilled out the filled 68 side light holes back in to the rear quarters during the restoration.

Those aren't the original quarters on that car when you got it, they are repops. I replaced them because the originals were just too rough to repair. I have the original quarters hanging here in my garage. Just couldn't bring myself to throw them away.

Daryl, Thanks, nice to know. That car has a whole load of history behind it. I don't it all, I was just honored to work on it.

You know it would be interesting to know if all of all Dick Landy race cars were still around or what happened to them. Maybe we can make a list of all the race cars he had and which ones survived. Here are some of the one's I remember.

- 62 Plymouth, 413 max-wedge, hard top.
- 63 Plymouth Savoy, 426 max-wedge, auto, sedan.
- 64 Dodge big block wedge, hard top.
- 64 Dodge 330, SS Hemi sedan.
- 65 Dodge Hemi, A/FX AWB, hard top.
- 66 Dodge Dart AWB sedan.
- 67 Dodge Hemi Coronet R/T, hardtop.
- 67 Dodge WO Hemi Coronet, hard top, same car as above.
- 68 Dart GTS 440, hard top.
- 68 LO Hemi Dart, hard top.
- 68 LO Hemi Dart, hard top, back up car.
- 68 Coronet Hemi, hard top.
- 69 Charger Hemi, hardtop.
- 69 Dart Hemi, 68 LO car converted.
- 70 Charger Hemi, hard top.
- 70 Dart Hemi pro-stock, hard top.
- 70 Challenger R/T, 440 silver w/black vinyl top, his personal street car.
- 70 Challenger Hemi pro-stock, hard top.
- 71 Challenger, Hemi pro-stock, same hard top as above.
- 72-74 Challenger Hemi pro-stockers, possibly same cars as above.
- 75-76 Dodge Dart Sport, Hemi pro-stock.
- 77-78 Dodge Arrow, small block pro-stock? (I can't remember if he ran one of these cars or not.)
- 79-80 Omni, small block pro-stock.
- Any other race cars after that?

If anyone can update or make any corrections to this list, feel free to do so.
