Now, if someone retags or rebodys a car that is a whole different matter.

As far as I'm concerned, what identifies a car as what it came off the assembly line as, is it's OE stamping numbers & the panels they were stamped on. The rest is only sheet metal with part numbers.

the car below is a 1971 hemicuda convertible. VERY RARE car
It has been fully restored since because the numbers were still on the cowl & rad cradle ID'ing as one. It has been accepted by very notable, high end collectors as being today a real car. This is an extreme case but just used as an example.

As well as a few LO 23 darts out there currently with complete legit history lost body numbers with acid dipping, still recognized as original cars and still valued high .

I am the one who pulled that Savage GT out of it's hole in Wisconsin. Still sitting in storage in Illinois, hopefully one day it will be back on the road. The original 340 is in a Challenger still, maybe it will be reunited with car too!

]Exhaust first required by NHRA for SS/B I think

Mine came slid on the rear end of the torq bars and were never hooked to the headers for front support. I took them of before they fell off and caused problems on a run. Guess everybody felt the same way as they came off most of the cars around 69 or 70
