Most definitely Lions. Went there as a kid many weekends with dad to watch sportsman racing. Was always my dream to one day run there.....then it closed.

I go to Green valley Speedway for many Dirt Late Model shows each year and was shown where the drag strip used to be, the startling line is still there but I wondered where the shutoff ended.

Still to this day, nothing better than Lions, chili tamales and chili dogs, Bernie Mather calling the races, Larry Sutton as the starter or Danny Larus. Pappy buzzin' around on that little motorcycle, just great times. Oh how I wish I could go to that track again, the famous 223rd & Alameda strip that wrote the book.

Caddo mills drag strip in Caddo Tx. Before it closed in the 70's it was the second oldest/active drag strip in the Nation. Opened in 1951.

Suffolk and Bowling Green for me. Suffolk (1970) was the first NHRA points race I ever attended.

A little bit of trivia, West Hampton raceway was the first purposely built dragstrip in the country. It wasn't an old airport converted to a dragstrip, it was just a racing facility. It's a shame for the people of Long Island that that track got closed because of political pressure and an a$$hole who ended up putting it under.

My first choice would be New York National, where I got hooked back in 1964. Back then there was nothing anywhere near Exit 70, and "Sunday..Sunday..Sunday" blasted out of my AM radio!
Second choice would be Suffolk Raceway, 1/4 mile - concrete style!

Aren't dreams wonderful?

I'll throw in a vote for Continental Divide Raceway in Castle Rock, CO. It was a well run facility with nice pit areas and its most appealing feature, the shutdown area was too short for todays fuel cars.
