Re: SRD 1973 Vega
Thank you. I have one more person to talk to yet. I am hoping to find people who remember the car and may have a story about it .

Re: SRD 1973 Vega
Thank you for the kind words. This purchase was way more than I bargained for. It has been a crazy ride. I have been lucky enough to talk to 6 of the 7 owners and get pictures from all of them. I have a video of the car running and a picture with Linda Vaughn standing next to it. Now a great set of build pictures from the first owner. It has been more than I ever thought, hoped or expected. And a HUGE thank you to James Schaechter, his detailed lead led to all of this being uncovered. I am still looking for anyone that has anything to add about the car.

Re: SRD 1973 Vega
Update. The complete history of the car is now known. It was the Chicagoland Chevrolet Dealers Association Pro Stock Car. Built by SRD with an acid dipped Body in White. It was one of the earliest cars they had built. I have been in contact with Pete Hutchinson and have verified it as an SRD car. The car was updated in 1978 by Gary Steward of IHRA Pro Stock fame. He changed it to a 1977. The car has been returned to its 1973 body. An exactly same fiberglass front end and hood have been put on. The rear fiberglass hatch was the original and has been repaired. The car is now back in Corvette Chrome yellow after 42 years. Hopefully next year the car will be ready to race again. It will have a Edelbrock TR1Y intake, Accel cable drive distributor and Lenco transmission like originally used.
