Barry, Speedworld is on Maricopa county land, with a strip of state land running through it also. Those county bureaucrats decided they didn't need the money from the track property rental..Case closed.
I would suggest that anyone that has the entrepreneurial spirit and wants to build a dragstrip out here, is don't rent any state or tribal land. There's plenty of vacant land out past SW. I'm sure much of it would be for sale. The railroad along that stretch is very active and runs all the way out of Phx. , up to the old rt.66, then Kingman , and over to Ca. It seems to me like a perfect area to not have to worry about noise from a dragstrip. I think it would work . How about it?

My vote goes for a dragstrip at the old Chrysler proving grounds just north of the old Speedworld.
