Re: 70's & 80's Pro Stockers
Its sad what Pro Stock has morphed into today. You need around $3 1/2 Million to get to the starting line today for a single season. Todays cars remind me of NASCAR jelly bean cars. Like Stock elim. the rules have slid into Jr. Super Stock or Modified production. My opinion is the AHFS is a joke but hey....Its my opinion so like it or not. I do not care. I'm just happy to have been around when it all started.

To me, the Pro Stock class ended when they stopped resembling production vehicles; when they started using body styles that were never V-8 powered and especially those that were front wheel drive vehicles originally. My favorite (and as far as I'm concerned the best) Pro Stock era is the Bill Jenkins/Sox&Martin/Dick Landy/Don Nicholson/Wally Booth/Don Carlton/early Bob Glidden/Gapp & Roush and etc., era. P.S. Glad to see you post. I was wondering the other day what happened to you because I haven't seen any posts from you in this section of the forum. Pete

Re: 70's & 80's Pro Stockers
I'm curious where you found this version of this photo. I've had several people send me copies of this that are nowhere as clear when enlarged. I didn't see a photo credit so I assume you found it somewhere. I would like to save a good file of this picture.
By the way, this Volare is the ex Arlen Vanke, Charlie Castaldo Fun City Flyer Duster. |
