better read up on that full face helmet thing, in the new rulebook it said: (gen reg 10-7) any car 9.99 or faster. In super gas mandatory. but in super street it reads "for all closed-bodied cars, an open-face or a full face helmet mandatory" what is missing is the words: or 135 mph, which is found 3 pages back, under designation "any vehicle running faster than 135mph must meet min. requirements for 9.99 sec. vehicle.
Is the rule book correct or is binky? if Alen doesnt run 9.99 or 135 he is fine, but for me i am stuck buying another new helmet! I need to know about the diaper thing also and who will be paying cont. $. time is running out. |

What I want to know is: why in God's name isn't the f'ing rulebook published on the NHRA website?!?!?! NHRA has the text...just POST IT. Make it so only NHRA members can read it if you're worried about protecting your income from rulebook sales. BUT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD POST THE RULEBOOK ON THE WEBSITE FOR US COMPETITORS!

Well i plan on putting the old man in the cav and hopefully the vette will be ready this year so he will need it if thats the rule. I haven't gotten the rulebook yet cuz techinically im not a member..yet. Was supposed to renew last year but with everything going on at home last winter i just never did. License is up this feb so i plan on renewing then. just going buy whats on here, nhra, and my local officials..LOL...and someone get Guiness world records on the phone..Jason's shortest post ever!!!

I was gonna write more, but I was afraid that if I did more expletives would come spewing from my fingers. So, I quit while I was ahead.
Isn't it amazing though that many racing sanctioning bodies (though admittedly they are generally smaller sanctioning bodies) post their rules right on their website for all to see??? I don't know...maybe it's just me. Maybe there's a good God darn reason for not posting the rules on the website (other than creating revenue by selling rulebooks). But if there is, I can't think of one. It's just not that hard to post the plain, unformatted text from the rule book on a single web page (sure it would be nice to have it formatted, with different pages for the different sections, but I'm not picky!) Good think you guys encouraged me to post again on this subject. Otherwise, I would have been at risk of breaking my own shortest post record. Whew...dodged a bullet...

Take a look at what IHRA did this year re: changes to the TD and TS rules... Conducted a survey of current participants, gathered all their feedback, came out with a set of rational rule changes that even have "outs" for those that get penalized (e.g., going to a 32-car field, but if you don't qualify, and there are open spaces, you can automatically move over to the ET category at a national event). Rule changes were promptly posted on their website, printed in DRM, and yesterday I received a hard-copy letter in the mail from IHRA as a licensed TD racer that explained the rule changes one more time... A little different from the NHRA process. Spoke to Bob Lang yesterday; he wasn't even aware of the firesuit/gloves/boots changes, nor the contradictions between the same in the General Regulations and Advanced ET sections... srm |

I am in total agreement with Scott on this one. How could you expect a sub 7.50 alcohol burning dragster driver to wear a -15 suit with -20 gloves and -20 boots? I don't think -20 gloves lend themselves to adjusting your Biondo/K&R delay box very easily. And you can forget about "feeling" the button underneath your finger. I am all for safety, but why can a guy on gasoline going 7.0's still wear a -5 suit when someone on alcohol can't? I have had lots of mixed answers ranging from the PRI show to California. I like what IHRA has done and hope NHRA will follow suit. If the rules do change...looks like it is C14 next year.

(assuming the entry is $200, which I don't know) As for the -15 and -20 rules ... looks like we switched to gas just in time. We did talk to NHRA at the PRI, and as Rock said earlier in this thread, there will be clarifications on the website. Seems NHRA lost an employee (Jim Skelly?) and they have been behind ever since. |

Good point Jason... they didn't clarify if you had to cough up the extra $$ for ET... I actually withdrew from TD at the Epping national event a couple of years ago after fat-fingering my NOS program on my laptop... two pistons later, I put the dragster back in the trailer and took the door car out for ET. Frankly, I don't recall having to drop another entry fee $$.
Good news is that if you qualify for TD, you get your entry fee back... srm |
