I don't have any skin in this game anymore, but I can understand wanting to keep S/SS combo's all S/SS. Of course, if I owned the track, I might think differently. In the late 80's I ran a lot of gambler's races with my 14 second street car. It was fun when I would just nip an 8 second car. But a gambler's race is different, you have to expect anything. |

James, my point is that Jason still enjoys his stocker as much as he ever did. Wasn't Jason the Stock Eliminator Champion at least once?? I don't believe that Greg was a sportsman racer (i could be wrong). I have and have seen pictures of Jason in his Buick and always wears a big grin when driving it. I have heard that Jason is usually hanging around the Stock guys and gals when they are racing.

Not only was Jason there w/his killer buick but Rob Downing was there w/ an A/SA mopar and Tim Freeman w/ his SS/BM corvette pulling gears! We enjoyed having these guys w/ us and believe me, they all worked just as hard on their class cars as they do on the pro stockers. Jason was in the test 'n tune lane making pass/adjustments when the combo race was down to the final round and it was dark!

When I went to the first Sportsnationals in Belle Rose in 2004 I believe, I went to Houston the week before. I had brake problems and did a crappy burnout and staging process. It was a mess and I lost first round. The next day I was wandering the pits and when I went by Jason's pit area, he saw me and came out to talk to me. He told me that he was watching the first round and questioned me about what had happened to me out there. I told him and he said to me "Don't worry about it, things happen,..... it will happen again"
What a classic statement, made me feel a little better. Yes, Jason is a sportsman supporter. Ron Ortiz U/SA a 14 second powerhouse.

For the record, I personally thought the FX car was neat as heck. I had no problem letting it run with us, and would have had no problem lining up next to it. If it fits the NSS rules, and NSS cars are allowed then so be it. Eddie Bolton |

Statistically, the Can Am series championship history supports the theory that Super Stock cars have the upper hand in combo competition. They have dominated the points chase in recent years with 12 of the last 13 series winners wheeling a SS ride. Tony Valerio broke the string in 2016 with his Crate Motor 68 Camaro.
However, I would wager that every one of those SS drivers could have been crowned champion as a Stock class entry - it would be fascinating to put it to the test over the course of a full season.

Look what you started Jack , I've ran that race at M.D. alot of fun and differant group of racers for a change is nice . Cant remember if they had buy backs ? The ASRA and ECSSS there are no buy backs , which I favor . Was the left lane still alittle bumpy at M.D. lol......
