1966 Chevelle Malibu 300 with 283 & glide, pulled the 283 bought a 396 375hp of course changed mounts and driveshaft etc...
Got busted doing 107 mph in school zone, me and a buddy (he had 69 Mach 1) bet 50 on a race, drove our cars to school uncorked with cheater slicks. We skipped 3rd period and like to dufus heads ran behind our highschool, the cops got word of it and set up on us and we did not know it. Long story short: tickets for 87 mph over, non dot tires, open exhaust, exhibition of speed, only reason I did not go to jail was I knew the officer I did win the 50 though..LOL |

I bought a '69 Chevelle SS396 project as my own HS graduation gift. Oh, my bad!! I still got it. ( lol ) I did drag it out of storage this year, after a 17 yr. layoff from the track. That old heap didn't forget a thing. 2 wins in 3 finals, a couple of semis and a third place finish in Maple Grove Street. After 30yrs. I think I'll keep it. E

My third car, 1967 Shelby GT500 4spd. I got the car with a 427 in place of the 428, never drove a faster street car. I sold it in 1979 for $4,500.
I'm building a clone stocker because I can't afford a real one nor would I make one into a race car. |

Jan. 1969, 19 yrs. old and decided I wanted to order new car for summer before the draft would get me. Dad (co-signer), me and my brother went to local Chevy dealer and ordered 69 Camaro, 396/375, M21 4-speed, 4:10 Posi, Fathom Green, black interior. Ran AHRA Formula 2 D/S, 12.60@108,great memories! Got drafted, got married, sold car, tried finding it 10 yrs. later. Car was destroyed in accident sometime in 1979, couldn't even eat supper the night I found out, sure miss that car. 21 1969 different Camaros later, it still can't be replaced.

Still have fond memories of my 1967 Mustang 289 hi po 3speed single exhaust that I gradually converted to a copy of Steve McQueen's Bullitt Mustang. Best back seat for Drive in's and all the extra activities that went on in those years. CR
