Can't say this is really an oddball, but it was a really neat car. When I was 15 y/o my dad bought a like new '73 or '74 AMC Javelin from an older gentleman that bought it new, this was around 1981. The car was drop dead gorgeous, black with a gold stripe down the side and Pierre Cardin interior that had multi colered stipes, factory ralley wheels. It was automatic w/console and had a 360 I think. Wish I had some pics of that car, it turned heads wherever ya went. Of course pops sold it just before I turned 16,lol.

Well I remember the 1959 Chrysler 300 E which had in-line dual quads. It was the first year of the wedge over the hemi.
The next year, the 1960 300 F was the first ramcharger (long ram manifold). I was not old enough to own one but they were around and they were fast in their day. 413s and very rare pieces today.

I can recall seeing in Miami, a white 60 Chrysler 300 convertable with a long ram 413 with a French made Pount a Mousson 4 speed, white top with red interior. Never have seen another one, must have been pretty rare, I heard like 7 were made but could be wrong

I guess it was 15 cars total all with the special order short rams & 400hp, dont know how many were covertables. Wouldnt want to tear that trans up and they were fragile.

Geez,
A 70 Fury 1, with a 440 six-barrel, and hood scoop. Not sure if you put that car/boat on the road,,,,,or in the water!!,,Would hate to get 'T-boned' at an intersection by that beast!!! Maybe a new thread should start,,,"Police Interceptors",,I'm sure everyones father or uncle had one in the mid-late 60's..mine did.. A 67' Plymouth Belvedere, black 2-door, 440/375HP, not sure of the rear, but the thing had the ineffective and long-throwing "Inland" 4-speed shifter..The thing looked like a tree-branch coming out of the floor.,But man, could that thing fly on the 'Taconic State Parkway',,,it was a New York State Trooper Special 'unmarked car',,,,,,,,those bastards ![]() Paul,,,'non-cop' |

Back in the sixties, a friend had a 66 Caprice 2 door with 395/325 bench seat (luxury fabric even) four speed. Not very quick but really unusual.
Staying on the "ain't no light weight" angle, I had a bunch of fun with a 70 Eldorado. Standard engine was a 400 hp 500 cubic incher. Heaven help the performance car that agreed to go from a roll. There were a couple of W31 Olds smallblocks in town - think of it as a small block 442. Another friend once owned a 59 El Camino 348 tripower 4 speed which was traded into the dealership he worked at from the original, boat towing owner. Last but not least since it probably doesn't count, but I put together a 70 Malibu LS6 4 door. Back then, the AHRA rules allowed it in stock, and as I remember I gained about a second in record for 80 pounds in weight over a two door. Unfortunately, the AHRA collapsed about this time so it didn't hit the track very much. It was an ex-phone company car, army green with bottle cap hubcaps. One of the best street cars I ever had. |

My brother had a 1958 Dodge D500, 361 2x4 carbs with 305 hp. I think that there are about 5 to 10 still in existance. When I was a kid, my brother would take me up to Hempstead Trnpk and hunt down Corvettes with the D500, kick their asses with it. It was alot of fun!

I'm not real sure how odd it was, but a guy bought a new 66 Chevelle with a 427 /425. Silver w/black int. I have never seen another one. All the ones I have seen have been 396/375s or 396 /360s 396/ 350s 396/325s or small blocks
