Re: John Force crash in Virginia
The recovery period for a traumatic brain injury is a long slow process. Not much is known on a week by week basis. Most likely John is done driving for at least the remainder of this season. I am sure there will be periodic updates as his recovery continues. All we know now is he survived the accident and is recovering in the hospital. I am sure the family is concerned as well as everyone else that is a fan of drag racing.

Re: John Force crash in Virginia
My wife Teresa had a bathroom fall with a concussion last year in May. She is 72 years old and her doctor has told her it may take years to fully recover as she is talking slowly and has to use a cane or walker to get around.
Some days she seems to be making good progress and others she struggles with things like walking in open spaces as she has a fear of falling. I work for NHRA and have reduced my schedule to help with her struggle. John Force is 75 and took a much greater hit than Teresa and as much as I want to wish him a speedy recovery, I can identify with the struggles he will face. I keep them both in my prayers. |

From Brittany Force on Instagram: "Thank you everyone for your ongoing prayers for my dad after his accident in Richmond. My family and I have seen the outpour of uplifting words and support over the last couple of weeks and we are so appreciative of you all. It truly means so much to us. My dad has made some great progress here in Virginia, but he still has a long road ahead. The next step is getting him moved to a rehabilitation center. We are so blessed to be a part of this amazing racing community. Nobody is tougher than my dad, and I know it will be everyone's support that helps him get through these next steps in his recovery. Thank you everyone!" 9h |

Re: John Force crash in Virginia
I had seen that video. Alan did a great job of explaining what happened and how the teams have been in discussion about this situation.
With that being said, I hope John Force, his family and the doctors involved come up with a great plan for John's future in the sport. In my opinion, John should take a long and hard look about stepping away from the seat and become a car owner. He could still be at every event and be a part of his racing operation. John has contributed so much to the sport and I pray that he will still be a part for several years to come. My thoughts, his decision.

Re: John Force crash in Virginia
John just posted his retirement on Facebook. I hope he stays involved in the sport. What a great broadcaster he would make! Ray

This link does not work for me and I don't find anything else online about a retirement announcement. However I do see that he has been released from the Arizona rehab center for outpatient rehab near his home in California. Bill |

Re: John Force crash in Virginia
Yeah, I'm not sure that Facebook link is legitimate. That doesn't appear to be an "official" Brittany Force page.
Regardless, here is the update from yesterday: https://competitionplus.com/drag-rac...ets-to-go-home |
