Just a quick update on the 1K car, I made 4 passes at "The Beav" yesterday. The first pass I ran with the stock carb which is what I've been using as it has less in the way of "issues" than my race carb. It ran about what it should have given the track and the weather. The next run I put on the "new and improved" race carb and *********** it stumbled but not a "running out of gas" stumble, more like a "help me, I'm drowning" kind of stumble. Took some pumpshot out of it and ************ it stumbled a little less. The last pass I took as much pumpshot out of it as I could without going into carb surgery or completely disconnecting the pump and it equaled the ET of the first pass with the stock carb but it still has some stumble in it as it was .13 slow in 60' BUT it went a full 2+ MPH faster at the FL and almost 1 MPH faster at the 8th.
What I am taking away from this weeks adventure is that I was trying to cover up a fuel starvation problem with accelerator pump shot and not fixing anything. After some floatbowl surgery, I have my starvation problem fixed and now have to start taking away pump shot as this combo apparently doesn't want a lot of it.

Billy, any chance of having a fuel sloshing problem? Sounds like you found something if it goes 2 mph faster. Way to go Billy!

Billy, if you feel like a road trip to test, you should have no problems making plenty of runs at Hagerstown next weekend (November 2-3). Killer air to see how quick it can go on Saturday (yeah, I know, not 'real world' air). Plus get to race for $2,000 (or more) to win on Sunday.

Mike, I'm planning on being there with the 1K car and the Turbobird with a special guest driver.

Well, I guess that I'll consider this my final report. It's been almost 9 months and a bunch of fun and aggravation but the UTI4U1K car did manage to perform as advertised. It went under the NHRA index(barely) for under a thousand bucks and with the addition of an 8" converter has, as of now gone almost 4 tenths under.
The Epilogue I went to the Lee Sherman race this past weekend with the 1K car and had great conditions and lots of time to BS with old friends and meet some new ones. I decided to stop playing with my Frankenstein Dual Jet and put the stock carb back on and try and drive the car and that worked out pretty well. I made a few changes to the stock carb on Saturday at the T+T and finally was able to get the car and the driver into the same happy place. Sunday morning came around with some real ego massaging air and the car managed to put together a great grouping of runs with a best of a 14.47 at almost 91 MPH and a 1.863 60'. The car was right on what I thought it should have run until the driver went red. And that pretty much ends the year and draws the curtain on UTI4U1K. If there was a "wish list" for the car, it would include a professionally done trans and an 8.5 rear so that I could give it more gear. Oh and some more time to try and get the Dual-Jet perfected. Knowing that it could be a viable combo, it could definitely pick up with a good shortblock and reversing the pistons. But those are all things that can be done during the course of a couple of off seasons without killing a budget. I hope that this little exercise has given at least a few people some good reasons to think and, more importantly, some good reasons to act. Stock Eliminator on a strict budget can still be done, even in the 21ST Century! It's all just good old fashioned Hot Rodding! Just don't let the "Zombies" eat your brains! The End? OBTW, Vic Guilmino and I just might be playing with a really different Stocker this winter. Stay tuned for project "The Great White What?"
